Media text style model on football commentators' cliches
I am not the target audience and I did not enjoy this piece but it is a good example of how to talk about linguistic ideas in an entertaining(?) and accessible way, although it seems to me to be trying too hard to be funny and clever. What do you think?

I like the way this article was written and equally because I love football am probably the targeted target audience and therefore enjoyed the context if the article as well as the way it was written.
ReplyDeleteWith me being the target audience, I did enjoy this article and agreed with most contextual points the writer was making, such as commentators having to refrain from fillers and include in their work a heavy load of cliches, but what other choice do they have to do their part in keeping the television viewers entertained? However, it does seem that the writer is maybe trying too hard to engage with the audience and be funny, possibly de-attracting them from the overall article.
